Fly fishing is one of the most relaxing and cathartic activities I enjoy—the cool lapping river, the natural scenery, the rhythmic motion of casting, the thrill of a catch. These are the ingredients of peace in this world.
The Chinese traditionally string pearls on silk thread because it is flexible and strong. I string my stones on 30lb test, big game, fly fishing line for the same reason. The fishing line is as strong as iron and as delicate as silk, providing flexibility and durability at the same time. This beautiful line is strung through each freshwater pearl bead 8 times and knotted between each stone, providing timeless style and durability meant to last for generations. I finish my strands on one end with a freshwater coin pearl. The other end is finished with a loop of tiny freshwater seed pearls designed to allow the coin pearl to comfortably slide in and out of the loop like a button in an eyelet. The entire strand measures around 18” long.
